There is just something really amazing about listening to fashion critic Suzy Menkes’ voice. We’re not sure if it’s because of her posh accent or the precision in which she breaks downs all of the latest trends. But when she speaks shoes, we are more often than not going to listen.

This week, Suzy tackles the new heights the footwear industry is currently reaching. Literally. Some of the most popular pumps come in at a record six and seven inches high. Ouch! We want to reach for our Dr. Scholl’s gel inserts just typing that. Anyways, Suzy says the new power pumps resemble those that hookers wore in Venice three centuries ago. Her words not ours.
