Women desires

The mirror image of “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” is well reflected in fashion industry today.
At London Fashion Week’s ‘ladies’ day’, three women designers dared to be different from male counterparts through their viewpoints. “Because we are women, we have a clearer view of what we want to wear. We dress a real woman, not the fantasy image some men designers have in their minds. I think we understand more about comfort”, said Nicole Farhi, before presenting an autumn/winter collection based on just that concept.

At Betty Jackson, the ‘women-understand-women’ message was just as clear. “I don’t think I would ever put something on the catwalk that I or my daughter Pascale would not wear”, she said. “Fashion is about attitude, it’s about something as practical as being able to run for the bus, hold down a career, being comfortable in your skin and your clothes. It can be radical and realistic at the same time”, she adds.

The crucial element of cosy warmth and approachability was reflected in Margaret Howell’s collection, the quintessential Englishwoman.

Trend alert: Waist as a weapon to win the trend game
By admin | February 15, 2007
Like every time, this fashion week teaches us that the season of muffin top is over. Trousers and skirts both inched up past the hips, coming to rest where nature intended. This silhouette visually narrows the waist, elongates the leg, and minimizes any pear-shaped problems. It makes petite figures seem taller and tall women seem lanky. In short, it’s about time.
Lips jeans have designed a line of high-waisted denims that make the most of your body by covering, rather than revealing. This is perfect for spring as it makes you look longer and leaner than ever.
Style Tip: When it comes to higher beltlines, look for a flared or wide leg – if it’s tight on top and tight on the bottom you’ll end up feeling like a mummy. An A-line on the bottom keeps the focus on your whittled waist.
